This garage-special Laser Pistol is far less accurate than the real deal, but energy blasts do more damage than bullets. If you must tell your friends you have a "laser", go for it. But you would be better served to save your money for the factory job.
The weapon uses a blue electric ray that can affect multiple targets (so pierces the first target to reach the other) and cause electrical burns. With the skill Energy Charge, you can charge it for the equivalent of three rays for three times more damage and ammunition.
It's named Home-Made Laser Pistol in the game but this weapon is named "Short Raygun" in concept art.
In the Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel Official Strategy Guide, a different image is shown for this weapon, but the true picture is that, due to a change of developers.
