This perk "grants an additional experience level with all advantages that entails" - Except one advantage. The level you just gained has no perk, as Here and Now effectively disappears after giving you another level. This is rather fitting with the idea of a person living in the "Here and Now" by choosing this perk, gaining a small short-term advantage by sacrificing a larger long-term benefit.

* Taking this perk effectively robs you of a perk. Since there are only 20 levels in Fallout 3 (30 with Broken Steel) you're sacrificing a perk later for some skill points and extra health now. Unless you really need the level urgently, it would be in your best interest to choose a perk with more value.

* In unpatched Fallout 2, if you chose this perk at a high level, you would gain a perk for every 3 levels you had already got. So if you got it at level 15 you would get 5 or 6 free levels. You would, however, get no perks for these levels.

* In Fallout 3, you cannot take this perk at level 20, unless you have Broken Steel, in which case you cannot take this perk at level 30.

* In Fallout: New Vegas, if you do the perk glitch of obtaining more than 15 Perks, you can use the Here and Now perk to stop from leveling up from level 10 on onward. You still lose out on a more beneficial perk, but now you can get experience points like a normal game after level 10.

* This perk is only useful if you are trying to hit the level cap (20 or 30, depending on game), where leveling up becomes increasingly more difficult. Otherwise it has no other redeeming benefits.

With this Perk you immediately gain one experience level.

— Fallout 2 In-game description

Here and Now is a Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout Tactics, J.E. Sawyer's Fallout Role-Playing Game and Lionheart perk.

This perk "grants an additional experience level with all advantages that entails" - Except one advantage. The level you just gained has no perk, as Here and Now effectively disappears after giving you another level.

Notes

 • In Fallout 3, you cannot take this perk at level 20, unless you have Broken Steel, in which case you cannot take this perk at level 30.
 • In Fallout: New Vegas, if you do the perk glitch of obtaining more than 15 Perks, you can use the Here and Now perk to stop from leveling up from level 10 on onward. You still lose out on a more beneficial perk, but now you can get experience points like a normal game after level 10.
 • This perk will not work past level 35, because each DLC increases the level cap by 5. Since the toolset cannot load all installed DLC at once, it is difficult to determine the actual level allowed. You can still calculate and set it manually if you have access to the toolset (calculate number of DLCs installed * 5)
