Hakunin's appearance is nothing, if not stunning. His face is always painted with white and black colors, in the pattern of a human skull, while his body is wreathed in brahmin skin and ornaments carved from bone. However, it is not his looks that matter.
He is a talented healer and an even more talented shaman. Years of experimenting with herbs and incense have unlocked hidden potential within his brain, similar to the one the Master has tapped. Hakunin is capable of peering across the fabric of reality and even send his thoughts to the minds of others. However, these same experiments have eroded his sanity (or, at the very least, his ability to communicate with fellow humans), meaning that he is difficult to decipher for his fellow tribesmen.
If the player rids his garden of the evil plants, Hakunin will manufacture healing powder for them. For each broc flower and xander root brought to him, the player will receive a single pouch of healing powder.
Hakunin's usefulness declines if the player elects to hire Myron, who can manufacture stimpaks. All he needs is the aforementioned broc flower, xander root, and an empty hypo.
Hakunin will appear to the player in four visions, reminding them to find the GECK. These happen on the 23rd of October 2241, 21 January 2242, 21 April 2242, and 20 July 2242. If the player finds the GECK before either of these dates, the game skips to the last sequence and the remainder is not played. This also triggers the invasion of Arroyo, leaving Hakunin in a broken heap in front of the canyon to Arroyo. Hakunin will survive until the player talks to him, giving a clue as to where to look for the tribe.
Killing Hakunin in the village and then waiting until the vision dates will trigger them as usual. Of course, this means that the game is over, since it will end the moment the player leaves the village.
Finding Vault 13, but not retrieving the GECK will preserve Arroyo, but Hakunin will enter his wounded state as normal.

"The Earth sings with the news of a champion upon the land.... Perhaps, before you go, you would bestow a kindness?"
"You may bear the mantle of the Chosen, but your dark soul cries from within."
"Too many seasons and too many wounds, Chosen. Instead, you must listen."
"Thank the ancestors. Now my soul may join the eternal song. Safe journey, Chosen."
"Did you never listen when I taught you the yearly dance of the wind spirits? South, of course."
