Nothing less than a Heckler and Koch G11, one of the best assault weapons ever made... Fires a 4.7mm caseless cartridge, 50-round magazine. When it talks, people listen.

Randal

The H&K G11E is a small gun in Fallout 2.

Background[]

The following section is transcluded from assault rifle. To modify, please edit the source page.

The H&K G11 is an assault rifle developed during the late 1960s by Heckler & Koch.[1] It has revolutionized assault weapon design and fires 4.7mm caseless cartridge, a round consisting of a block of propellant with a bullet buried inside.[2] The loading and feed mechanism is physically very complicated but exceptionally fast and reliable. Rounds are fed into the weapon from a magazine that lies above and parallel with the barrel.[1]

The rounds are oriented vertically (at 90 degrees to the bore) and are fed downwards into the rotary chamber so that they can be rotated 90 degrees for firing. Because the H&K G11 uses caseless ammunition, there are no extraction and ejection steps.[1] The resultant weight and space savings allow the H&K G11 to have a very high magazine of 50 rounds.[2]

The G11E is a variant designed for special operations and squad level support. The G11E retains the base weapon's compact dimensions and exceptional fire rate, but adds a regulated low-light scope, suppressor, and offers an increased fire rate and better damage characteristics.[2]

Characteristics[]

The most powerful assault rifle in the game; after ammunition modifiers it's significantly stronger than the next best choice, the H&K P90c. On the other hand, the even stronger Vindicator minigun uses the same ammunition, so you may want to save up for that. Incidentally, the P90c costs 1 AP less to fire.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Heckler & Koch G11 was a caseless assault rifle that was developed for the Bundeswehr and was close to full deployment before being cancelled in the wake of reunification. The E variant was intended for special operations, rather than squad support, equipped with a suppressor and low-light scope. In practice, it is neither, as it's the FN FAL (Night Sight) that has the perk, not G11E.
