An NCR soldier under Lt. Monroe's command, she and fellow trooper Private Ackerman were on patrol with their squad and heading back from Novac when they came under fire from a group of Great Khans. The squad radioed for assistance, but decided to chase after the Great Khans to Boulder City's ruins. There the squad got caught in crossfire and ultimately Gilbert and Ackerman ended up getting taken hostage by the group of Great Khans while the rest of the squad escaped without harm.[1] Throughout the hostage crisis, she has been nothing but ill-tempered and annoyed during her time as a hostage.[2]
Boulder City Showdown: Gilbert is one of two soldiers held captive by Jessup and the Great Khans. If saved, they disappear from the game after the quest is completed.
↑The Courier: "What's going on with the Great Khans?" Monroe: "One of my patrols was on its way back from Novac when it came under fire from the Great Khans. They radioed for reinforcements, but instead of waiting for us, they chased the Khans into the ruins where they were caught in a crossfire. No deaths, but not all of the squad got out. The Khans have Private Ackerman and Private Gilbert as hostages." (Monroe's dialogue)
↑Rescue message box: "Despite her situation, Private Gilbert remains sullen and defiant. She's tied up to Private Ackerman - freeing one will free them both."
Ackerman may reappear after being killed and losing a limb. Killing him will not cause any reputation loss at this point.
