George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) was the first president of the United States of America.
Before he was President of the United States, Washington served as colonel of the provincial militia during the French and Indian War (1754-1758) and as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution (1775-1781). The Washington Monument was built between 1848 and 1884 to commemorate him.
