— Arcade Gannon

The Gannon family Tesla armor is a piece of armor in Fallout: New Vegas. It was worn by Mark Gannon before his death. It looks similar to the Remnants power armor, with the exception of several blue and orange energy capacitors located on the armor and a constant blue electrical effect. Arcade Gannon keeps the armor somewhere safe, but never wears it except during the last battle if you tell him to fight with the Remnants.[1]

Background[]

The following section is transcluded from Advanced power armor. To modify, please edit the source page.

Developed by the Enclave in 2220, the Advanced power armor Mark I is the first true production run of the advanced power armor family. Initially designated Mark II Powered Combat Armor,[2] the Advanced power armor Mark I is also the first model of power armor designed, produced, and deployed after the end of the Great War. This armor was developed off of the pre-war designed X-01 power armor, over coming the flaws of it's predecessor. The Advanced power armor Mark I was the standard service armor of Enclave soldiers by 2241. By 2246, the Advanced power armor Mark I was being phased out by the superior Advanced power armor Mark II. Despite this, the Mark I remained as the Enclaves' standard issue power armor until after the Sacking of Navarro. By 2277, the Mark I had been completely replaced by the Mark II among Enclave survivors who fled to the Capital Wasteland.[3] Enclave soldiers who could not escape continued to use the Mark I. Although eventually surviving Enclave were forced to hide any stockpiles of Mark I armor they could, as anyone seen wearing those suits of armor in or near NCR territories are liable to attract unwanted attention and be tried as Enclave war criminals.[4] By 2281, the only remaining users of these suits were the Enclave Remnants, and the suits took on the name of Remnants power armor. Despite advancing age and lacking maintenance, the Mark I continued to be one of the most effective models of power armor on the battlefield, and any who saw them were reminded why people once feared the sight of Enclave vertibirds in the sky. A single suit of Tesla Advanced Mk I was kept safe by Arcade Gannon. The suit had belonged to his father during service in the Enclave, and Arcade had protected it as an heirloom in memory of his father.

Characteristics[]

Compared to the Remnants power armor, it has 4 less DT for the entire armor set and gives no Strength bonus, but has +10 bonus to Energy Weapons and +20 Radiation Resistance. Compared to the cut Remnants Tesla armor, it has just 1 more DT. Additionally, the armor weighs 10 units less than other Remnants armor, with a total weight of 35.

The Gannon family Tesla armor is classified as medium armor, unlike the Remnants power armor and Remnants Tesla armor which are both classified as heavy. This can be extremely beneficial in conjunction with the Jury Rigging perk, allowing this armor to be repaired with any medium-weight apparel.

Locations[]

You can obtain this armor by completing For Auld Lang Syne and convincing Arcade to stay with the remnants for the fight, and also convince the rest to fight for the NCR, then when you are leaving the Remnants Bunker and go outside he will show up and will be wearing the Gannon family Tesla armor, at which point you can kill him and loot it off his body, you can also kill him at Hoover Dam and take it off his corpse.

If you convince Arcade to go back and stay with the Followers, rather than fight with the Remnants, he will leave for a while, and appear after you leave the Remnants bunker and give the Gannon family Telsa armor to you. (Note that there is an 80 speech check if you try to convince him to do something that contradicts the answers you gave during For Auld Lang Syne.)

Notes[]

  • Though the metal parts of the armor are "invisible" while using a Stealth Boy, the electrical diodes and fan on the armor, as well as the light produced by the armor, are still shown.
  • This armor is the lightest form of power armor in the game.
  • This armor is the most protective piece of medium armor in Fallout: New Vegas.
  • The helmet is very cheap when compared to the actual armor itself.

Bugs[]

  • PCIcon pc PlayStation 3Icon ps3 Xbox 360Icon xbox360 patch #2. After completing For Auld Lang Syne. The dialogue option never came up to obtain the Gannon family Tesla armor.(I got it to work after re-doing the 5 conversations with Arcade, and choosing a different answer). It does not matter if you kill Orion Moreno or not. If the player releases Arcade Gannon and tells him to leave, he can no longer be recruited back, and Arcade will possibly be located in the Lucky 38. If you manage to find him, he can be killed and the Gannon Family Telsa Armor can be looted from his dead corpse.
  • Xbox 360Icon xbox360 After completing For Auld Lang Syne. Gannon asks the player for advice, but the dialogue option to answer does not come up. Afterward, the player is unable to open his control wheel, simply skipping to the dialogue tree when selected. This issue can be fixed by sending him back to the followers and recruiting him again, but he still will not discuss his future or give the player his armor.
