Dialogue file
I think that there should be a project for the dialogues of all the Fallout 3 & New Vegas charicters (& creatures that speek). The additions of their dialogues would make for far more accurate references.--Ant2242 00:45, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

For example there are many pages that say this person dialouge and/or thatperson dialogue, but not the actual dialogue itself. See Ulysses references 1-4.--Ant2242 00:59, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
How do you imagine that? Typical exported to file dialogue look like that. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-bIALHq5DFWM/UBp2PTL063I/AAAAAAAAAQQ/4QxOQLiPOJI/s1280/uly.jpg It will take hundreds of hours. --Languorous_Maiar 12:47, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Maybe something like how Fallout & 2 were done, with one big cash and references from the numbers they were assigned. Or maybe like how I'm currently trying to do my User:dialoguecash page?... Or maybe a combination imbetween?--Ant2242 17:48, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

But u know how they handled old Fallouts dialogues? They just copied the entire dalogue into page. Nothing more. You can't do that with F3/F:NV dialogues. It's still will be very tiring and requires a lot of work. ;p --Languorous_Maiar 19:40, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

But am I doing it right, with the info on the picture you posted?--Ant2242 20:00, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Generally:

  • Delete lines like "NVDLC04Ulysses NVDLC04Ulysses" etc. Leave a dialogue alone
  • Delete things like NVDLC04Dia_StartCombatResp_00008AC6_1 StartCombatResponse [...]

Also you console player, if you want, I can export many dialogs into .txt and host them for you. I see no point in prescribing from image. --Languorous_Maiar 20:49, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Could you please give me an example? I'm not quite sure what you mean.--Ant2242 21:31, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

http://www.speedyshare.com/kExwD/dialogueExportNVDLC04UlyssesFake.txt
About example dialogue. Instead
NVDLC04Ulysses NVDLC04Ulysses The Divide'll be your grave. The Divide'll be your grave. NVDLC04Dia_Attack_00008AAE_1 Attack NVDLC04Ulysses AfricanAmerican NVDLC04maleUniqueUlysses Combat NVDLC04DialogueUlysse(all form image)
Just
The Divide'll be your grave.
--Languorous_Maiar 21:41, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

So like I did for Henry Casdin in User:Ant2242/dialogecash01 and not DialogueExportNVDLC04Ulysses.txt?
Yeah. DialogueExportNVDLC04Ulysses.txt is total mess. --Languorous_Maiar 22:13, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
But thats the raw dialogue txt.--Ant2242 00:33, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

If raw dialogue is illegible, shouldn't occur in this form. --Languorous_Maiar 11:40, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Then how should we proceed?--Ant2242 23:47, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Not ask me. --Languorous_Maiar 21:53, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Running the raw data through a few simple regex and other processes (took about 5 mins), yields this as an example. So it is more than possible to do it. I think it is a actually a good idea in some respect. People can then use this data as reference material. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:53, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
I also have done this work (no GECK sorry) please see my sandboxes 01‎‎ 02 , and would like your opinion(s) in the format(s) for how to proceed.--Ant2242 23:06, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
GhostAvatar, that what I'm talking about. Great job. Man, only 5 min? heh, you are awesome. Too same for Ant, nice try in showing Courier's lines. --Languorous_Maiar 23:17, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
This is the full unedited version here. Simply formatted into a table. The first attempt was the removal of everything except Ulysses lines and sorted into alphabetical order. This second one is a lot better way of displaying the info. Just need to decide what columns are worth keeping, then remove the rest to make it scale to the page size of the site. Then I think we have a winning format for this project. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 23:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
I have a cleaned up version here. I don't know about the need for some of the headers, so I will leave it up to you guys to decide what is and isn't needed. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:29, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

I have been thinking about this as a project and it can be very simple to do indeed. The time consuming part would be getting the raw dumps of the dialogue. Once we decide which parts are needed for the table, in the example I have posted above. All we need to do is dump the raw data into there respective pages and tag it with a project template (for tracking purposes). It would then take me about an hour to write up the rules for my bot to convert and strip out the info we don't need. Then depending on the speed of the server, my bot can process a couple hundred pages an hour. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 15:49, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
