The flamer is a heavy weapon in Fallout 2.
Background[]
A Flambe 450 model flamethrower, varmiter variation. Fires a short spray of extremely hot, flammable liquid. Requires specialized fuel to work properly.
Characteristics[]
The mainstay of close combat for any Big Guns character, the flamer is a devastating close combat weapon, even more so if loaded with Mark II fuel. Excellent damage, accuracy, and low fire resistances throughout the game make it a weapon worth using in the field.
The downside is the weight of the ammo (a pound per shot), short range (just 5 hexes), and small magazine capacity (5 shots). As such, it's a weapon whose usefulness greatly depends on the situation.
