The Fire Root cavern is a cave in Fallout: New Vegas, connecting to Cottonwood crater. The entrance is located directly south from the entrance to the Cottonwood valley, along the valley wall.
Layout[]
This rather beautiful cavern has one main chamber with a radioactive pool at the bottom and two exits, connected by a path winding through several rocky corridors and a shelf overlooking the cavern. It's one of the more unique ecosystems in the Mojave wasteland, with plentiful plant life, glowing violet mushrooms, and a truckload of [Fire gecko (Fallout: New Vegas)|fire gecko]]s led by a legendary fire gecko. The cramped environment means close quarters combat with the aggressive lizards.
The shelf provides decent vantage points against the fire geckos, while the pool at the bottom has a skeleton with a combat helmet and a duffle bag at the southern end. There's also an evil gnome in the corner by the passageway down to the pool.
Notable loot[]
- Evil gnome: At the junction near the legendary fire gecko's spawn point (the T-shaped junction leading down to the pool).
- Combat helmet: At the southern edge of the radioactive pool.
- At the Cottonwood crater
- Fat Man: On the dead prospector in the water.
