Find the missing caravans is a side quest in Fallout.


Butch Harris of Far Go Traders asks the player to find out why caravans have been disappearing. Harris mentions the deathclaw skeptically, and tells the player to go to Beth for more information on it. She in turn directs the player to speak with Harold in Old Town.

After the conversation with Harold, the player should speak with Slappy outside of Harold's house. He will bring the player to the Deathclaw's lair.

The player needs to kill it and speak with the dying mutant, who will give them the mutant transmissions holodisk, which should be taken back to Far Go Traders to complete the quest.


  • 800 XP for having Slappy take the player to the lair.
  • 1000 XP for killing the deathclaw in the Deathclaw's lair.
  • 100 XP for uploading the mutant transmissions to your Pip-Boy.
  • 1000 XP and 800 bottle caps for coming back to Rutger and discussing the caravans / showing him the holodisk.
    • 2900 XP total.


  • A problem may arise in the ending of the game which is that while you may have completed this quest, the ending for the Hub will not be shown and will be skipped altogether. This may be fixed by lowering the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level (Windows XP)
