Changes: Fallout 4 armor modification

Modifying armor in Fallout 4 is an integral part of the game, allowing the Sole Survivor to increase the protection of even the most basic of armors.

Overview

With the proper materials, armor can be modified to be more protective from physical, energy and radiation damage. Tinker Tom has even made normal clothing a viable form of protection by lining them with a protective undergarment.

Modifying armor

All armor sets can be modified from the get-go using the armor workbench.
However, in order to be able to modify clothes and outfits with special lining, the player has to join the Railroad and prove his loyalty to Tinker Tom. Doing so will unlock the ability to use ballistic fiber for apparel modifications (specifically the ballistic weave mod).
