This rifle has been more widely used by armed forces than any other rifle in history. It's a reliable assault weapon for any terrain or tactical situation.

The FN FAL is a small gun in Fallout 2.

Background[]

The following section is transcluded from Battle rifle. To modify, please edit the source page.

The Fusil Automatique Léger ("Light Automatic Rifle" or FAL, nicknamed "The right arm of the Free World") is a self-loading, selective fire battle rifle with wooden furniture created in 1947 by the Fabrique Nationale de Herstal (FN).[1]

It operates by means of a gas-operated action. The gas system is driven by a short-stroke, spring-loaded piston housed above the barrel, and the locking mechanism is what is known as a tilting breechblock.[1] It uses 7.62mm ammunition with a 20-round magazine.[2] During the Cold War, it was adopted by many NATO countries[1] and it has been more widely used by armed forces than any other rifle in history. It's a reliable assault weapon for any terrain or tactical situation.[3]

Characteristics[]

The FAL is a top-notch assault rifle. Although it lacks the range of the AK-112, a burst from the FAL will actually deal damage, unlike AK AP ammunition without an AP fix patch, or AK JHP ammunition with a fix patch, which both won't. The 7.62mm rounds it uses are pretty rare, though, so burst at your own discretion.

Notes[]

  • Certain non-player characters can add a thermal imager, resulting in a marginally superior weapon. The thermal image eliminates the accuracy penalties incurred due to darkness.

Behind the scenes[]

  • The FN FAL is a battle rifle designed by Belgian company Fabrique Nationale (FN prefix) after World War II.
