Executive Order 99066
Executive Order 99066 was a presidential executive order signed and issued some time before the Great War that allowed for the authorization of certain areas as military zones from which any and all persons may be excluded, which lead to many Chinese and Chinese Americans to be detained in internment camps, such as the Little Yangtze camp at Big MT.
Examples of use
- In the internment orders note, 99066 was used to detain seven Chinese citizens; Y. Guo, A. He, H. X. Ming, M. Pang, M. Pang Jr., R. Chong and H.K. Tsen, and transport them to a War Relocation Authority site PA-32
Behind the scenes
Executive Order 9066 was signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 19, 1942, authorizing the Secretary of War to prescribe certain areas as military zones and intern all American citizens of Japanese descent.
