Template:Fallout 3 NPC overhaul project Enclave Soldiers are the main infantry of the Enclave Armed Forces and are currently the toughest, strongest and fastest human enemies the player can face in Fallout 2 or Fallout 3. They use a variety of equipment in the field, typically superior to other factions such as the Brotherhood of Steel.

Enclave Soldiers also benefit from professional military training and communication systems, all thanks to them being the direct descendants of the US Army.

Fallout 2

Light infantry

Template:Character Light infantry of the Enclave can be seen stationed in Navarro, in the barracks and as internal security. They wear Enclave Combat Armour and can be a threat, although their relatively weak armour (compared to their armoured counterparts) usually results in them dying prematurely.

Combat drugs are permitted in the Enclave and often soldiers can be found carrying a ration or two.

Template:Character Enclave soldiers still in training on the Oil Rig still wear old T-51b Power Armor. They study under the careful eye of their superior officers and work in storehouses, where their armor's servomotors are of great use.

Note: The statistics are actually superior to regular soldiers, due to the prototype used, which is for a random encounter bounty hunter leader

Heavy infantry

Template:Character The core of the Enclave military are troopers equipped with suits of advanced power armor. With cutting edge protective technology and high quality weapons, they are a force to be reckoned with.

These soldiers serve everywhere, the mainland in particular, where their suits offer suitable protection from the hazards of the wastelands. They are even Vertibird pilots.

Ranks

Enclave Officer

Main article: Enclave Officer

Enclave Officers wear standard uniforms and hats. They are armed with Plasma Pistols and carry Plasma Grenades as backup.

Enclave Soldier

Regular Enclave soldiers wear Enclave Power Armor and are usually armed with Laser Rifles, and carry a Laser Pistol as a sidearm. Rarely, they are equipped with Flamers or Rippers.

Enclave Soldier (Tesla Armor)

These Enclave Soldiers wear Tesla Power Armor and are usually equipped with Plasma Rifles. They may also carry a Minigun, Gatling Laser or a Missile Launcher.

They become more common at higher levels, and can replace regular Soldiers in Vertibird drops. They also appear in fixed locations, such as in front of Alexandria Arms, or as Colonel Autumn's bodyguards.

Enclave Hellfire Troopers (Broken Steel add-on)

Enclave Hellfire Troopers are a new variant of soldier added by the Broken Steel add-on. They wear Enclave Hellfire Armor and are equipped with Heavy Incinerators. They also carry a Plasma Pistol as a sidearm.

Enclave Soldier (Hellfire Armor, Broken Steel add-on)

The Broken Steel add-on also adds regular Enclave Soldiers armored in Enclave Hellfire Armor. They wield Plasma Rifles and have the same stats as the Hellfire troopers, but are just called "Enclave Soldier" in-game.

Wasteland Patrols

They often appear in patrols of three to six soldiers and are sometimes supported by an Officer. Heavily defended outposts include up to an entire company, including officers, caged Deathclaws and even Vertibird Gunships. Enclave Soldiers use tactical training in combat, such as flanking. They also have somewhat more health and somewhat better combat skills than comparable factions, namely Brotherhood of Steel soldiers or Talon Company Mercenaries. This, matched with their Power Armor and Energy Weapons, make them superior opponents to any faction in Fallout.

It is also worth noting that all Enclave soldiers in Fallout 3 are male and have the same voice. Strangely enough many officers and scientists are female, with a minority being male. about 2/3s of the scientists are female.

For a list of Enclave camps throughout the Capitol Wasteland, see Fallout 3 Enclave appearances.

Bugs

  • Occasionally Enclave Soldiers and Enclave Officers found randomly in the Wasteland will appear as friendly to the player. If you speak to them they will either say "Hey There." or "Yeah.." and the only dialog option is "See You later". This has been reported on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of Fallout 3.
    • The easiest place to encounter friendly Enclave Soldiers is near the Talon Company Outpost, north of the Nuka-Cola Factory. This location will feature an Enclave Officer watching over troops doing pushups. Should that Officer be discreetly killed by the player or other means, the remaining troops doing the pushups will remain non-hostile, but will have dialogue that speaks low of the player.
    • If the player enters Enclave occupied Project Purity before 'Take it back!', which can be done through glitches or console commands all Enclave will be friendly towards the player.
  • Similar to the above bug, but it appears almost any Enclave Soldier wearing Tesla Armor and armed with a Missile Launcher will be friendly towards the player unless attacked. The soldier can be communicated with, but the only dialogue option is "See you later". They spawn randomly in Enclave camps, patrols, or Vertibird drop-offs.
    • If the player follows one of these friendly Enclave Soldiers to an Enclave camp, they will become hostile and attack the player, but no earlier than the soldiers and officers of the camp.
  • Occasionally if Enclave camps are watched though a scoped weapon Enclave soldiers can be seen leaving the camp following an Eyebot to investigate targets. All are slaved to the Eyebot if present. All are hostile to the Lone Wanderer if either a Deathclaw or a standard armor soldier is present. If the Deathclaw and the standard armored soldier are sniped leaving only a Tesla armored Soldier and Eyebot both the Eyebot and the Tesla Soldier are friendly and the camp can be entered. The Tesla armored soldier is slaved to the Eyebot and can be released by destroying the eyebot. Once released the soldier will stay friendly and leave the camp visiting other Enclave camps. If you follow the soldier every attempt is made by the script to kill the soldier and the Lone Wanderer by unleashing multiple enemies. Up to 3 Giant Radscorpions with 2 ordinary scorpions or 3 Deathclaws in one attack have been encountered.
  • It is possible to see Enclave Soldiers way before they are supposed to appear in the Wasteland, even at the very beginning of the game. This seems to trigger much more commonly if a player were to play a game where the Enclave is present, and then load or start an early or new game. Often still, the Enclave soldiers will respawn in certain locations as if it were an Enclave checkpoint, minus the proper Enclave structures and gear.

Appearances

Enclave soldiers, like the Enclave itself, appear in Fallout 2 and Fallout 3.
