Ehren was the son of Saint Monica, born in the Great Lanta.
Background[]
When slavers raided Great Lanta, Monica, Ehren's mother, was captured and separated from her son, where she was passed off from slave master to slave master, never giving up hope that she would see her son again. Eventually, she found her son, who was revealed to have become a slave owner himself. He blamed her for the childhood he had lost to the slavers, and beat her daily. Yet, no matter how hard he beat her, she would simply smile and say "I forgive you." This ate away at Ehren, until one day when he realized the errors of his ways and freed all of the slaves he owned.[1]
However, there is nothing concrete about Saint Monica's story, so it is possible that Ehren is a fabrication thought up by Father Clifford.

Ehren took his mother to be his slave, even knowing who she was, for Ehren blamed her for his painful early life. Each day Ehren would think of a new and wicked trial to put her through. She would only smile at him and say, "I forgive you." Each morning she would be miraculously healed as if nothing had happened. When Ehren truly realized her love and God's love was boundless, he flung himself at her feet and begged for Saint Monica’s forgiveness. Ehren released all of his slaves, and they rejoiced. He repented all his wicked ways. Who among us is without sin? Who among us can claim to be innocent? Come, brothers and sisters, let us pray to God and Saint Monica for deliverance from our sins, as Ehren was delivered from his. Amen. Let us pray."
