The double-barreled shotgun is a weapon in Fallout 4.
Background
A shotgun, also called a "scattergun", is a firearm designed to shoot a multitude of projectiles with a single pull of the trigger. This makes it very effective at hunting game, greatly increasing the weapon's hit potential. However, the accuracy and power found at close range diminish rapidly as you get farther away from the target. Shotguns designed for military use are often called "combat shotguns".
Characteristics
A favorite among the raiders of Boston, the double-barreled shotgun is a powerful weapon for the start of the game, trading rate of fire for delivering a big blast of buckshot up front. The sawed-off barrel modification provides a large bonus to critical hit damage, at the cost of making it more or less only effective at point-blank range;[1] otherwise, the long-barrel modification increases accuracy for those who prefer too keep a little distant between themselves and their targets. The Rifleman perk adds a lot of damage to this weapon due to its high damage by default.
Crafting
With the Contraptions Workshop add-on, double-barreled shotguns can be manufactured using a weapon forge.
