It does the job, but it tastes like paint thinner and I feel like I'm going to die if I stop drinking for a day. [...] Drinking other booze doesn't cure the sickness like his.

Bill Ronte, Fallout: New Vegas

Dixon's whiskey is a consumable item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

Peddled and made infamous by Dixon, this poor excuse for whiskey is designed to be extremely addictive, dangerous to quit drinking, and extremely cheap to produce. It has come to be a blight on all of Freeside.[1][2][3]

Characteristics[]

Dixon's whiskey is a low-quality variant of whiskey. Compared to normal whiskey it has double the penalty to Intelligence (-2) and lacks any Charisma bonus, but its most important (and hidden) difference is its increased addiction rate; Dixon's whiskey causes alcohol addiction at a rate of 50%, compared to whiskey's 10% chance of addiction.

As with most alcoholic item in Fallout: New Vegas, Dixon's whiskey is affected by the player's Survival skill, both its positive and negative effects. At higher skill levels this is particularly noteworthy due to the increased penalty to Intelligence: with a Survival skill of 100 the player will receive +3 Strength and -6 to Intelligence.

In hardcore mode Dixon's whiskey will increase the player's level of dehydration. This effect is also affected by the Survival skill, ranging from +25 at lower levels to +75 at 100 Survival skill.

Whiskey Rose[]

Whiskey Rose is a perk provided while Cass is serving as a Companion in the player's party. With this perk the penalty to Intelligence for consuming any type of alcohol is eliminated, as are the effects of alcohol addiction.

Variants[]

Location[]

It is sold exclusively by Freeside merchant Dixon
