Dirty water is a consumable item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics[]

Dirty water is the most common water in the game, and is drawn from the tainted lakes and rivers of the Mojave Wasteland. Unlike purified water, this will give you radiation, which can be cured for a fee by a doctor, or by using RadAway.

Consuming contaminated water is much more irksome than in Fallout 3, because of the lack of My First Infirmary. However, with hardcore mode enabled, it may be a necessary consumable, as it can be difficult for players early in the game without a canteen to find adequate quantities of purified water.

Variants[]

Locations[]

  • Most merchants that sell food have dirty water for sale. Lupe at the Grub n' Gulp rest stop and William Farber at Camp McCarran both have ample supplies of dirty water.
  • Dirty water is commonly found in abandoned houses or buildings
  • Dirty water is also commonly found in first aid kits.

Notes[]

  • Dirty water differs in appearance from purified water. Dirty water is labeled "WATER", while purified water is labeled "H²O", the bottle is also grimier.
  • Dirty water can be purified in bulk at a campfire.
