Knight Sergeant Dawes (DW-112KS[1]) was a member of recon squad Gladius before dying in a raid on Fort Strong.
Background[]
Knight-Sergeant Dawes was one of seven Brotherhood soldiers who were brought together to form recon squad Gladius, in which they were all sent to investigate the Commonwealth, exterminate mutant encampments, acquire technology, and discern the fate of recon squad Artemis.
After a several month trek, the squad crossed the border and entered the Commonwealth. Wisely choosing to immediately search the Boston region with the intention of finding a secure building to use as their recon headquarters. Soon after, they were ambushed by raiders. Knight Keane's power armor was destroyed and they lost some of the supplies. Although, they were able to repel the attack and continue the mission.[2] Once in Cambridge they discovered a secure derelict police station. Once they cleared the building they were able to recover a good deal of supplies and ammunition from pre-war caches inside. Establishing themselves a permanent location.[3]
After Scribe Haylen identified the Corvega assembly plant in Lexington as a possible site containing viable pre-war technology, they initiated a sweep and retrieve operation. Paladin Danse had him do a site survey and he discovered it was being held by a large force of raiders. Once the intelligence was acquired they attempted a breach of the defenses. As they approached, the squad was hit with gunfire. Knight Worwick was wounded, so Danse decided to fall back to Cambridge. During the retreat, Knight Brach stepped on a landmine. Scribe Haylen attempted to treat him, but Brach succumbed to his wounds and died.[4]
The squad's next reconnaissance operation was at grid reference A113. The ruins of Boston International Airport and Fort Strong. The airport was almost completely abandoned, but Fort Strong turned out to be infested by Super Mutants. They were hoping to resupply at the armory there, but Dawes was killed. With the Knight-Sergeant killed in action, Danse had to order a retreat back to the police station.[5]
