The Courier duster is a piece of clothing in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Lonesome Road.

Characteristics[]

This is a gift from Ulysses upon besting him and the Divide and making it out in one piece, regardless of what the player chose to do. The Courier duster is visually identical to Ulysses' duster and shares the same DT of 13 and weight of 3. Unlike Ulysses' duster however, the flag on the back varies with what faction you have the greatest reputation in. If sided with the New California Republic, the emblem is the two-headed bear; if sided with the Legion, the symbol is the bull; if sided with Yes Man, the emblem is a black spade with the number "21" imposed over it. However, if sided with Mr. House, the emblem will be the same Old World flag as on Ulysses' duster. Each different duster has a unique effect than raises a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat by one and raises a derived statistic a considerable amount.

Variants[]

Variant Faction Effects
"Blackjack" Yes Man +1 Luck, +30% Poison Resistance
"Fighting Chance" Caesar's Legion +1 Strength, +15 Action Points
"The Great Bear" NCR +1 Endurance, +25 Carry Weight
"Old World Justice" Mr. House +1 Agility, + 30% Radiation Resistance

Locations[]

  • At the entrance of Canyon wreckage, in the footlocker after completing Lonesome Road.

Notes[]

  • Despite the four variations, they all share the same ending slide: the Courier walking off into the sunset while wearing the independent (Yes Man) variant.
  • The spawn script is apparently based on overall raw reputation "points" rather than the shown reputation threshold, and is not affected by the actual quest line the player is following.
  • Wearing a faction-specific armor before confronting Ulysses can change which duster you will receive. For example, if you are favored with the NCR, but wear an NCR disguise, your fame with them will be set to neutral and your second-highest fame will become your highest for the duration you wear the disguise.
  • Despite the variations, none of the Courier dusters are faction armor.
  • The NCR version is the only piece of equipment that directly increases the Courier's maximum carrying capacity.
  • If you have no reputation points with any of the three factions, you will get the Yes Man variant.
