The combat rifle is a weapon in Fallout 4.
Background[]
The combat rifle is a practical weapon created by rechambering the mass-produced, rugged combat shotgun for rifle rounds. The amount of changes was minimal, limited to removing the heat shroud and modifying the receiver. Everything else was left in place, including the original magazine well with the drum mount. Despite that, the resulting rifle was as cheap, effective, and popular as the combat shotgun, in no small part due to the vast catalog of modifications it shared with the combat shotgun, allowing for in-depth customization. These included various optics, ranging from simple iron sight rings, through reflex sights, to night vision and recon scopes, bayonets and compensators, as well as adjustable, pistol-grip tactical stocks from lightweight alloys.[1]
Characteristics[]
Combat rifles are a medium strength, semi-automatic battle rifle. However, their major strength is seen in the flexibility that comes with their versatile choice of modifications. Said modifications make these rifles capable of being converted into anything: a short to mid-ranged battle rifle, a fully automatic and higher caliber weapon, or even a long-ranged sniper rifle.
