Codsworth is a Mister Handy unit that resides in Sanctuary Hills, and acts as a butler towards the Sole Survivor's family. After the Sole Survivor emerges from Vault 111, Codsworth acts as a potential companion in Fallout 4.

Still functioning after 200+ years, Codsworth is the Sole Survivor's personal household robot from before the Great War. Due to Codsworth's attentiveness, its adoptive family was able to leave soon enough to reach the nearby nuclear fallout shelter in time for the Sole Survivor, at the very least, to gain safe entry to the vault.
