A loyal soldier serving in the New California Republic Army, Quartermaster Mayes is acutely aware of the problems at Forlorn Hope and the sheer scope of the issues. Everything, from ammunition, through medicine, to soldiers, is in short supply. However, he's also as stubborn as they come and refuses to give up. He recently sent a squad to Helios One to request supplies, but it failed to return to the base. With the situation at Nelson, he is not at liberty to leave and verify their fate for himself.
