Broadcast tower SV | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Broadcast tower SV is an unmarked location in the Capital Wasteland in the year 2277. It is located west-southwest of Jocko's Pop & Gas Stop and north of the Warrington trainyard. After turning the power source of the tower on, it broadcasts Signal Sierra Victor to the near vicinity.
Background[]
This still functional radio mast rests atop a craggy and rocky hillside.
Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition – Official Game Guide p.384:
7.L: BROADCAST TOWER SV AND 7.M: DRAINAGE CHAMBER (LAT -20/LONG -13)
One of the rusting radio masts atop a craggy and rocky hillside is still functioning.
Flip the electrical switch and find the Drainage Chamber Sewer Grate [7.M] to the southeast.
Use triangulation, but beware of the gaps in the ground; don’t fall down a fissure to the dirt path below!
Layout[]
Exterior[]
The broadcast tower stands amongst some other pylons in a very rocky area, with the electrical switch on a transformator just beside. A small canyon separates the sewer entrance to the drainage chamber from the tower, but it can be reached by using a downed pylon as a bridge over this canyon.
Drainage chamber[]
Located southeast of the tower, this drainage chamber was heavily trapped by its former and now dead inhabitant, with pressure plates, rigged shotguns, a grenade bouquet and mines, and even a rigged terminal. In the end the Lone Wanderer will find the obligatory ham radio, along with a mini nuke and a copy of Duck and Cover! – which would have been helpful some time earlier.
Notable loot[]
- Duck and Cover! – on a table in the room with the work bench.
- Mini nuke – on the same table.
Notes[]
- A workbench is in the main room.
- There is a wrecked car on the cliff near the transmission tower with two skeletal corpses and some empty whiskey bottles lying on the hood. Apparently a couple of lovers were enjoying the view of Tenpenny Tower when the bombs fell.
- Inside the drainage chamber that contains the radio source of the Sierra Victor signal is another skeletal corpse, splayed out in a position that suggests that the device he was tinkering with exploded violently, killing or fatally wounding him and destroying the terminal on the desk.
- Followers may get stuck inside the drainage chamber, behind the barricade made with arms cabinets, if you let them go through. They will try to return through the wall next to the barricade (shortest path).
Appearances[]
Broadcast tower SV appears only in Fallout 3.
