Brahmin Wood is a tribal village that is in the immediate area of the pre-War city of Chicago, Illinois.

Background[]

Brahmin Wood is a resource rich village in the ruins of Chicago, and is inhabited by a large tribe that is renown for their fanatical devotion and worship towards the local brahmin. The size and wealth of this village made it reject the Brotherhood of Steel's proposals as too expensive. However, all of that changed in 2197.[1]

A large group of raiders led by Horus invaded the village, killing and enslaving most of the tribesmen. A small group of refugees, including Tribal Father Charon and Hawkeye, managed to escape and contact the Brotherhood. Out of desperation, they agreed to the Brotherhood's terms: in exchange for food and recruits, the Brotherhood would retake the village from the raiders.[1]

After the Brotherhood drove away and killed the raiders, the tribals from Brahmin Wood eventually became the largest contributor of manpower to the Brotherhood's war machine.[2]

Inhabitants[]

The village is headed by Charon, the tribal father, who is an adherent of the Brahmin-centric religion of the village. However, he is also a political realist who only accepts the Brotherhood's offer of help to relieve the immediate suffering of his people. He knows well that he is essentially trading away their future, but is willing to sacrifice all in order to save his tribesmen.

The shaman of Brahmin Wood, is a man known as Hawkeye, and is only vaguely interested in the affairs of the village, as he devotes his attention to interpreting dreams and visions.

  1. 1.0 1.1 Brahmin Wood mission briefing: "Two nights ago, raiders invaded the resource rich tribal village of Brahmin Wood. Their losses have been heavy and they are now ready to accept the Brotherhood's conditions for protection. We will return their lands and rescue these primitive people in exchange for food and a portion of their older children for new recruits. We must expand our ranks to meet our objectives, which makes every village count.
I don't know what is driving the raiders this close to our base of operations, but they have been punishing the surrounding area. Brahmin Wood is one of many villages that is now occupied by raiders. The inhabitants that did not escape, have been slain or imprisoned. Make no mistake Initiate, they have killed a fair amount of our Brothers. Do not underestimate them."
