Boone's scoped hunting rifle is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

The following section is transcluded from Hunting rifle. To modify, please edit the source page.

A classic bolt-action rifle design dating back to the 20th century. Its rugged design, performance against a variety of game, and accuracy made it a staple of American hunting before the Great War. The nuclear holocaust has merely changed the type of animal hunted by the owner of the rifle. The availability of replacement units often cause owners to neglect their rifles, though their performance even while damaged and far between repairs is a testament to the quality of this all American design. While the basic model was chambered for the venerable .308 round, hunters in the Capital Wasteland area are known to use a model chambered for .32 caliber rounds meant for pistols.

Characteristics[]

This is the rifle used by Craig Boone and is only obtainable through glitching, by going into a casino and handing over your weapons or console commands. The rifle looks incredibly weathered, its barrel is rusted, and the end of the stock is duct taped on. The ammunition it uses is magical companion ammo. The ammunition can sometimes be looted from his body if he is killed. Boone's sniper rifle's scope reticule is the reticule from the sniper rifle from Fallout 3.

Location[]

Used by Craig Boone. He is in the mouth of the giant dinosaur in Novac. He handles the night shift of guarding the area in front of the dinosaur. You go there on the They Went That-a-Way quest. Although you cannot take it out of his inventory under normal circumstances, entering an area where guns must be handed over to a guard with him as a follower will add the weapon to your inventory. The weapon can't be used due to it chambering MCA, and there is no way to give it back to Boone. Furthermore, if the weapon is dropped, it can not be picked up again.
