Barney Black, a.k.a. Barney the Barbarian, is an inhabitant of Vault 13 in 2161 and a possible identity of the Vault Dweller.

Background[]

This is Arnie's younger brother. He's even bigger and stronger than Arnie... but he's also a bit on the slow side, if you know what I mean. Sometime back he picked up the handle "Barney the Barbarian" - it may have had something to do with the way he once came through the door at mealtime, forgetting to open it first. This guy is definitely played for laughs.^[1]

Barney Black is one of the bonus Fallout prefab characters featured in Fallout Official Survival Guide.

Notes[]

Barney is designed to provide a combative approach to solving the conflict in the game, similar to Max Stone.
He is also the only example of a low intelligence character among all other prefab characters.
It is impossible to accurately re-create Barney in the actual game. If you try, you will lack 3 points while setting his primary statistics.

Behind the scenes[]

Like his brother Arnie, Barney is most likely a reference to Arnold Schwarzenegger. Unlike Arnie, Barney seems to be a reference to another character played by Schwarzenegger - Conan the Barbarian.
