The Bannister crater (and surrounding ruins)[1] is an unmarked location in Fallout 3, to the east of Fort Bannister.
Background[]
The massive bombardment of countless nuclear strikes has turned the area to Fort Bannister's east into a hellhole; there are over a dozen large craters near the outer areas of the fort and six separate clusters of ruined buildings to sift through. The epicenter of this destruction is a massive central impression known as the Bannister crater.[1]
Layout[]
The area is a favorite resting place for radscorpions. While the small craters hold nothing of value, the largest one, known as "Bannister Crater", contains an overturned military truck with a decaced alien and alien power cells next to the truck bed, near some barrels of nuclear waste. Also in the crater there is a safe behind the truck's cab, also in front of that safe is some RadAway.
After The Waters of Life, an Enclave detachment will establish an outpost overlooking the large crater. This camp usually consists of several Enclave soldiers, an Enclave officer, and an automated turret. A single Enclave scientist will be investigating the truck at the bottom.
Notable loot[]
- 96 alien power cells located beneath the truck.

The epicenter of this destruction is a massive central impression known as Bannister Crater. This gigantic dent in the earth features furrows east and west of the main crater, where a Military Truck has tipped over. Check the rubble for a couple of desks you can open, a Wastelander with Radaway, and a locked safe. However, the real area of interest is under the overturned truck. An odd-looking explorer has dropped an Alien Blaster and ammo.
There are reports of strange radio signals emanating from a Crashed Anomaly [2.G]."
