Their weapons are better; their power armor is better. Is their training better? We'll see.

— Knight Artemis

Knight Artemis is a Brotherhood of Steel member who currently resides in the Citadel in Fallout 3.

Background

One of Lyons' finest soldiers, Knight Artemis has repeatedly proven himself in the combat zone. He is currently resting up after a scouting mission in which he supported his Brothers over at Galaxy News Radio, sweeping the area for super mutants. It's a job he enjoys as much as mentoring the Initiates. He is a real backbone of the Brotherhood.[1]

A veteran of the Brotherhood, Knight Artemis is naturally distraught over the current affairs of the chapter. He is rightfully disillusioned over the chapter's leadership under Owyn Lyons' complete lack of strategy, waste of resources, the Schism that split the chapter - taking what friends he had left whom were not torn apart fighting super mutants, and now facing an old enemy that resurfaced after thirty years of rebuilding and rearming.[2] Leaving them technologically behind the Enclave.[3]

Naturally he doesn't wish to talk about the Brotherhood Outcasts, instead advising the Lone Wanderer to Scribe Bowditch.[4] He also claims to have killed more super mutants than every member of the Lyons' Pride combined.[5] While he patrols the Citadel he can give directions through the labyrinth of the headquarters.[6][7][8][9]

  2. The Lone Wanderer: "You must see a lot of things. What's been going on?"
Artemis: "What's been going on? Well, let's see. For years, we've been draining our resources defending the ungrateful residents of this no man's land. Most of my best friends have either been ripped apart by Super Mutants or left to join the Outcasts. And now an enemy we faced more than thirty years ago has resurfaced, and their tech is still better than ours. What's been going on with you?"
    (Artemis' dialogue)
  3. The Lone Wanderer: "So... Any thoughts on the Enclave?"
Artemis: "As if we didn't have enough to worry about. Their weapons are better; their Power Armor is better. Is their training better? We'll see."
    (Artemis' dialogue)
  4. The Lone Wanderer: "Outcasts? Who are they?"
Artemis: "I'd really don't want to go into it. Go bug Scribe Bowditch. He could talk a dog off a meat truck."
    (Artemis' dialogue)
  5. The Lone Wanderer: "Care to share anything about the Super Mutants?"
Artemis: "You know how many Uglies I've killed? More than all of Lyons' Pride combined, that's how many. All it takes is a loaded weapon and the will to use it. Oh, and a good way to get Ugly blood out of your armor. Little bit of Abraxo and some water -- works like a charm."
    (Artemis' dialogue)
  6. The Lone Wanderer: "Can you describe the layout of the Citadel?"
Artemis: "You are currently in A Ring. Here, you will find the Great Hall, the Lyons' Den, and the Archives. Beyond this area is B Ring, quarters for the Knights, Scribes, and Elder Lyons. Outside in the Bailey are the training areas and access to the Initiates' barracks. Other than that, down those steps is the Lab. Be careful around there, the Scribes are touchy about who goes near their toys."
    (Artemis' dialogue)
  7. The Lone Wanderer: "Can you describe the layout of the Citadel?"
Artemis: "This is B Ring. Here you'll find the general barracks, sick bay, and Elder Lyons' quarters. Through those door, you'll find A Ring -- the Great Hall is there, as well as the Lyons' Den and the Archives. Outside in the Bailey are the training areas and access to the Initiates' barracks. Other than that, go through A Ring to get to the Lab. The Scribes do most of their work on the projects down there, so watch what you touch."
    (Artemis' dialogue)
  8. The Lone Wanderer: "Can you describe the layout of the Citadel?"
Artemis: "You are currently in the lab. This area belongs mainly to the Scribes. They do their technological R&D down here. Up those stairs is A Ring, our main gathering area. The Great Hall is there, as well as the Lyons' Pride quarters and rec room, and the Archives. Head through A Ring to get to B Ring, general quarters are there, our doc is across the hall from those, and Elder Lyons' quarters are in the back. Outside in the Bailey are the training areas and access to the Initiates' barracks."
    (Artemis' dialogue)
  9. The Lone Wanderer: "Can you describe the layout of the Citadel?"
Artemis: "This is the Inner Bailey. These are the training areas and access to the Initiates barracks is across the cut. Through those doors to the east is A Ring. The great hall is there, as well as the Lyons' Pride quarters and rec room, and the Archives. Head through A Ring to get to B Ring, general quarters are there, our doc is across the hall from those, and Elder Lyons' quarters are in the back. The lab is underground. That area belongs mainly to the scribes. They do their technological R&D down there, so watch your step."
