“
Oh, lovely. They’ve sent me a mo-ron. Listen closely. You will stand guard at the hangar. This is your duty post. You will go there now and stay on guard until told otherwise. Now move it, soldier!
”— Arch Dornan
Sergeant Arch Dornan is a non-commissioned officer of the Enclave, stationed at Navarro as its drill sergeant and enlisted personnel commander in Fallout 2.
Arch Dornan wears the exact same armor as other soldiers, the Mark II powered combat armor. However, underneath the thick layers of metal and servomotors lurks something different. Arch Dornan is the single most powerful personality on the base, capable of reducing even the proudest soldier to a gibbering wreck through the use of ear-blistering rants punctuated with profanities.
Interactions with the player character
Interactions overview
This character has no special interactions.
Other interactions
Dornan can be safely circumvented, as unless the player speaks to him, he will remain in the quarters. If for some reason the player talks to him and doesn't reload, he will either post the player at the hangar and start circling the base or, if without power armor, tell them to get suited up or escort them off the base.
Obviously, ol' Arch is based on the stereotypical image of Marine drill instructors, popularized by R. Lee Ermey's Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.
Bugs
Dornan uses the female proto id, so examining him will display the female pronouns from combatai.msg.

"Welcome to Camp Navarro... a civilian! How in the hell did a civilian get on this base! I’ll have someone’s ass for dinner! Get this civilian off government property."
"Outstanding. Proceed on the double to the hangar where you will stand guard duty. You will do a fine job. Do you understand?"
"If I like you, you can call me Sarge. But guess what? I don't like you! Do you understand?"
Appearances
Arch Dornan appears only in Fallout 2 as a talking head. He is also mentioned by Cannibal Johnson in Fallout: New Vegas, where he refers to the incident when a private was caught out of uniform and going on the most "ear-blistering rant known to man."[1]
