April is a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse that doesn't want the Brotherhood of Steel to gain access to ED-E, fearing that they will hoard this technology.[1] While ED-E is being examined by her, she enhances its weapons.
ED-E My Love: She will appear at the Old Mormon Fort once her recorded message has been played during the ED-E My Love quest. When talked to, she'll explain what she intends to do with ED-E and why she does not wish the Brotherhood of Steel to have access to the robot. Then from there you can pick from the Brotherhood of Steel or April. April disappears after the player selects her upgrade of ED-E or when the ED-E My Love quest is complete.
Interestingly, although she harshly criticizes the Brotherhood of Steel for potentially using ED-E for weapons research, she doesn't hesitate to explain that she will upgrade ED-E's weapons system. The bonus ED-E gains increases his weapon's power output.
↑The Courier: "What would you like it for?" April Martimer: "I've heard through our channels that it has some research that may be related to Enclave and Poseidon Energy technology. I'd like to get what I can from it and use that data for the good of humanity... ALL of humanity, unlike the Brotherhood." (April Martimer's dialogue)
