Anacostia is an area of metro Washington, D.C. just north of Rivet City.
Background[]
Anacostia is a historic neighborhood in Washington, D.C. The name "Anacostia" comes from the anglicized name of a Nacochtank Native Americans settlement along the Anacostia River. Captain John Smith explored the area in 1608, traveling up the "Eastern Branch" -- later the Anacostia River -- mistaking it for the main body of the Potomac River, and met Anacostans. The core of what is the Anacostia historic district was incorporated in 1854 as Uniontown and was one of the first suburbs in the District of Columbia. It was designed to be financially available to Washington's working class, many of whom were employed across the river at the Navy Yard; its (then) location outside of and isolated from the city made its real estate inexpensive.
Layout[]
This is the area where Rivet City can be found; the southernmost tip resting against the banks of the Anacostia river. Also, the Anacostia Crossing Metro station is located near the tower linked to Rivet City. The station and tunnels are inhabited by several lightly armed raiders. The northbound line terminates at the museum's. Just west of here lies a super mutant camp, overlooking the Jefferson Memorial.
Notes[]
- This is one point where you will be ambushed by Talon Company mercs or Regulators.
- This is an endpoint of the caravans.
- Anacostia is a real area in Washington D.C. The river harboring Rivet City is Anacostia River.
- There is also another entrance to the Rivet City bow.
- There is a Pugilism Illustrated up the escalators and on a table.
- It is possible for the nearby spawning Talon Mercenaries to kill traveling merchants while stopping at the entrance to Rivet City.
Notes[]
- The Anacostia district is on the incorrect side of the river.
Bugs[]
- If one of the Talon Company mercs or regulators is enslaved they will appear standing near a wall in a friendly state. Attempting to talk to them will turn them hostile. You can continually enslave them and then return again to the same spot.
Appearances[]
Anacostia appears only in Fallout 3.
