Allen Marks was a Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap hunter in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

Allen Marks was obsessed with the myth behind the Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps and the legendary mysterious prize that awaits. His obsession even went as far as to chase and kill people in order to steal their Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps, up to 41 people.[1][2] By his location the player can tell that he gathered at least 50 Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps as the player can find his body inside the Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters vault room where the prizes were. Ironically, his prize was nothing more than a worthless treasure trove of Sunset Sarsaparilla Deputy Badge and a large amount of caps spread throughout the room in boxes.

Allen Marks died after getting trapped inside the Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters storeroom, most likely he died of either asphyxiation or a wound that he got from fighting the robots in the building. Before his death he recorded a holotape which can be found next to his body. He also possesses the unique laser pistol, Pew Pew. The laser pistol found on his body can be accessed just by looking over it and collecting it but you can't get it by looting his body.

Notes[]

  • Marks is first mentioned by Malcolm Holmes, warning the player about his murderous attitude toward people with the star caps. The player can encounter this character's body during the quest A Valuable Lesson, whose title refers to the great crimes Allen Marks had committed in order to receive what proved to be not only a worthless prize but also a fitting end.
  • A Sunset Sarsaparilla Deputy Badge can be found literally on him (not in his inventory). Moving the body will cause the badge to fall off.
  • Strangely, his karma is neutral even though he is noted as a murderer. This is probably because he was never meant to be killed by the player, as he is found already dead in the game, and can never be seen alive without using console commands.

Appearances[]

Allen Marks appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.
