Wearing tattered clothes and a captain's hat,[4] little indicates that Meyers is a former Enclave serviceman. He abandoned the organization after he realized that he wasn't fighting for the United States of old, but for a coterie of rich, old bastard hungry for power.[5] As a low level Navarrotechnician coming from one of the smaller mainland outposts of the Enclave (at least according to what he says about himself), he wasn't important enough to warrant a manhunt.[6][7] Since then, he has been living with the tanker vagrants, whose honesty, openness and community are a refreshing change from the hyenas of the Enclave.[8]
