9mm pistols are sidearms using the 9mm ammunition.
Background[]
Immediately before the Great War, 9mm pistols were less common than their 10mm counterparts. 9mm were favored in southern states, like Colorado and Utah, while 10mm was more favored by the Federal government and the citizens of Northern California.
Models[]
Mauser C-96 9mm[]
Produced by Mauser,[1][2] the C-96 is a recoil operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistol. The bolt and barrel are locked by a vertically tilting locking piece with two lugs locking into recesses beneath the bolt. It features an adjustable sight for up to 1000 meters, though it's mostly a cosmetic feature, as the ammunition it is made for stops being accurate at less than a quarter of that distance.[3]
The pistol's production run lasted from 1896 until 1938 and was sold to both civilians and military organizations. As a military sidearm, the pistols saw service in various wars, as well as World War I and World War II, and it's now a relic of the Old World.[4]
M&A 9mm pistol[]
The M&A 9mm pistol is a semi-automatic handgun manufactured by M&A Guns Manufacturers.[5] It is a recoil operated, locked breech pistol with a linkless barrel-to-slide locking system and an external hammer. It is a single action pistol, meaning the slide must be pulled manually to cock the weapon and make it ready to fire. The most common wasteland variant of the weapon has a dark grey finish and checkered wooden grip panels, with staggered magazines offering a tremendous 13 round capacity.[6]
Thanks to its low price and ruggedness, it is the standard sidearm of the New California Republic Army and a common sight in the Mojave Wasteland in 2281.
